General Management
Overview
General management covers all dimensions of management, i.e. international business, competitive strategy and organisation design, marketing and business communications, financial management and operations and human resources management. These lay the foundation for management in all organisations. The general management units lay the foundation for acquiring managerial competencies and developing further in business management. They are delivered in a unique way, combining academic learning and clinical practice. They will cover the core business management concepts, tools and techniques as well as development of leadership and meta cognitive abilities needed to manage change and deliver business outcomes. It is designed to shift the thinking of managers from normative to transformative state. It recognises that possession of knowledge, skills and attitude by themselves will not be sufficient. That is why it also emphasises systems´ thinking and emotional intelligence, which are key to achieving superior managerial performance. Successful leadership in management requires meta-cognitive abilities, affective and conative competence, as well as skills in negotiation and influence.
