Description
The MBM is designed as a specialist Master degree course to respond to the emerging challenges and the requirements for a holistic approach in management. A deliberate emphasis is placed on professional and technical skills enhanced through projects students will pursue. Thus, the MBM or indeed the MBA should not be confused with standard general management courses. Students will not only acquire broad knowledge of the field but more critically demonstrated specialised knowledge, skills, perspectives and values in a substantially integrated, applied and experiential manner. Units of study are larger to provide a greater opportunity for interdisciplinary learning and integrated coverage of knowledge in this field. Students are immersed in the fundamental knowledge and then involved in project-based learning with due emphasis on the integrated application of knowledge, creative thinking and intellectual development. Contemporary thinking is reflected in the core knowledge and perspectives promoted throughout the course including learning triple bottom perspectives and environmental and social optimisation. In short, APIC’s focus is on promotion of holistic and integrative thinking, self direction and development of meta cognitive abilities. The qualities underpinned are:
- Creativity and lateral thinking
- Critical thinking/conceptualisation skills
- Holistic and integrative perspectives that promote environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibly
- Experiential and reflective learning
- Skills in optimising/customising solutions across technical, organisational, financial, social and environmental angles
- Risk resilience mindset, i.e. skills in tapping opportunities and resolving uncertainties (constant value addition/risk reduction focus)
- In search of new knowledge and evolution of best practice
- Leadership and soft skills

Duration
Australian
The course may be studied full time and/or part time allowing students complete flexibility in their study. The normal duration is 1.5 years of full time (3 semesters). However, the number of units undertaken in each semester can be varied to suit individuals, subject to the total duration of candidature not exceeding 4 years (8 semesters) and subject to other conditions as advised at the time of enrolment.
International
The CRICOS-registered duration is 1.5 years of full time studies (3 semesters). Please note the part time mode is not available to international students on a student visa.
Offshore
APIC’s Offshore programs make it possible for you to undertake all or part of your Postgraduate courses outside of Australia. Programs can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Offshore students study the same learning program with the same quality education and use the same APIC materials as students undertaking the course on-campus in Australia. You will also undertake the same examinations and will be assessed against the same levels of performance.
Students may choose to apply to APIC directly and study via the APIC online learning system. Alternatively, you can join the program offered by an APIC partner education institution in your preferred location.
Delivery Method
Each unit of study typically comprises a 4-day intensive workshop followed by project studies that involve completion of 4 major team assignments (whose scope vary depending on the unit under consideration). The assignments are conducted on real life projects/programs and or organisations where feasible. Students receive expert support during their project studies. The final assessment (viva) for each unit of study takes place upon completion of the project studies. The whole process is facilitated through mentoring and state-of-the-art frameworks, systems and tools.
Entry Requirements
1. Qualification Requirement
The admission process assesses a student´s ability to enrol in and successfully complete the course of their choice in the permitted time. Suitability of applicants to study a particular course is to a large extent determined by the admission rules and academic requirements.
Entry into any of the award courses the College offers is open to all applicants who possess a relevant Bachelor degree and or a Graduate degree from a recognised institution either in Australia and or overseas.
Those who have not completed a formal degree may be admitted into the program provided that they have at least completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised institution or hold an equivalent qualification and have relevant industry experience. Eligibility for admission through the flexible entry will be determined on a case by case basis (a charge may apply for assessing certain cases).
All credit points gained as part of the Master of Business Management or Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in Business Management can count towards the MBA degree requirements.
2. English Level Requirement
For admission into one of the award courses APIC requires as a minimum one of the following English qualifications:
- Academic IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 or better with no band below 6.0;
- TOEFL: 577 or better plus Test of Written English (TWE) at 4.5+;
- Academic PTE, minimum 59 to 64;
- CBT (Computer-based TOEFL): 233 with an Essay Rating of 4.5;
- IBT (Internet-based TOEFL): Overall score of 90 with a writing section minimum of 21;
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: Grades A or B;
- CULT (Combined Universities Language Test): 75 or better with a minimum of 17.5 in each skill.
The qualification must be less than 2 years old.
Alternatively, applicants may be accepted if they have successfully completed 1 year of a Vocational qualification at a Diploma or Advanced level in Australia, or have successfully completed an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree, in Australia or Overseas for a minimum of 2 years, within the last 24 months in which English has been the sole medium of instruction and examination. Those who do not meet the English requirements can be referred to English language centres to complete intensive courses in English prior to commencing their award courses at APIC. The length of these English courses varies, typically from 4 to 20 weeks. After completion of the intensive English course the students may be requested to sit for an APIC placement test.
If immediately prior to applying for admission to APIC a student was enrolled and had been studying in a course offered by an Australian university comparable in level to that he or she has applied for in APIC, then the student will be admitted into the selected course. In all such cases APIC may still require students under consideration to complete additional English courses and pass the English for Academic Purposes test (minimum score 50) or equivalent tests within the first semester of their studies at APIC.
