Dr Peter J Seebacher is a specialist consultant to government and industry on energy and related industries. With an employment background in multidisciplinary teaching and research Peter has migrated to business development and strategic planning setting up his own firm AusEng Pty Ltd.

His recent roles include global business development manager for a large privately owned Australian manufacturing business, advisor to the Australian Greenhouse Office, technical advisor to Halliburton Energy Services and others. Peter Seebacher´s current interest is to develop business opportunities within the energy sector by utilizing his experience across several fields.

Peter´s background includes the leadership of major projects that were based at Universities, Cooperative Research Centres CRCs and in industry. Peter was recently project leader of a multi-million dollar CRC for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems and Technologies project to develop fibre optic sensing technology and the manager of the private company responsible for commercialising project outcomes. As a long time employee of the University of Sydney he was active in teaching and research within the Department of Electrical Engineering. During this period he had a lengthy secondment to manage a research project on behalf of an energy industry consortium.

His research interests included energy conversion and biomedical engineering and his work has been published in leading international journals of science and engineering. He maintains a keen interest in biomedical engineering where he has developed several diagnostic tools and has international patents

Peter is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics, a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a Member of the Australian Institute of Energy and a Member of the Electric Energy Society of Australia. Peter has recently been invited to be a member of two Warren Centre Committees - Energy and Information and Communications Technology.

Peter was awarded a first class honours Bachelor of Applied Science from the New South Wales Institute of Technology (now the University of Technology Sydney) in 1983, a research Master of Engineering Science degree from the University of Sydney in 1987 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Sydney in 1997. In 1983 Peter was a recipient of an Australian Institute of Physics prize for final year top student of the School.
