Workshop Title: Financial Management
This workshop targets accounting and financial management. It develops a sound understanding of the relevant principles, techniques and standards. The scope of the workshop comprises:
- Definitions and understanding of the principles of accounting, budgeting, financial planning and control concepts
- Accounting standards, best practices, requirements and instruments for communication
- Financial measures including cash flow, balance sheet, orders in hand, fixed and variable costs, profitability, capital investment, assets, liabilities, return on investment, earning per share, financial ratios, historical stock price movements
- Estimating techniques and determination of their accuracy, range of application and timing in business ventures
- Financial performance measurement, reporting and assessment
- Forecasting and trend projection for the purposes of managerial decision making
- Systems and tools applied in accounting and financial management practices
NOTE: Intensive lecture sessions in each unit are followed by tutorial and case studies or project work sessions for deep learning outcomes. A knowledge assessment will be conducted for those participants wishing to obtain a Certificate of Attainment of a given unit of study.
